Just got a hot flash from noted Victory rah-rah boy Richard Ruch:
And there is a new Braumeister Pils that should be available in two weeks. This will be a true session brew at 4.7%. The single hop is a German Spalt Select. The sample I had from the fermentation tank last nite had a slightly spicier and hoppier flavor profile than I expected. It was very delicious....looking forward to a number of slow pours of this beauty throughout the summer.
Me too, Ruch, me too!

Nice. Any idea if this is one of their labels that will get wide distribution?
Almost definitely not, Steve, sorry.
Almost definitely? Sounds like a definite maybe to me... ;-)
Well, there are always a couple kegs that slip out, but it won't be bottled. So... "No" would probably have been a better answer.
I had a Braumeister Pils at Victory a few months ago. Very spicy and very good.
Is the beer you're talking about made from a different recipe?
These releases would suffer if bottled anyway. Bother some nice local for a growler trade...that's all.
Spalt should rock...though I doubt it will ever surpass their glorious Tettnang offering. Stunning stuff.
Love this series. Hats off to the Lager boys for maintaining it.
Eric,
The Braumeister series mostly varies by single hop variety...but it does sound as if this one's got a lower gravity. Spalt's a damned nice hop.
And speaking of which...Loren, the best one of these I ever had was a previous Spalt, just one of the best BEERS I've ever had, let alone pilsners or Victory beers. I've got high hopes for this one. Might be sixtel time. But I absolutely agree about the praise due to Victory for the series!
Well, I was able to drown my sorrow over the thought of no Victory Pils in No. Ill with some Trader Joe's Joseph's Brau Hopfest German Pils. And that it is, a great rendition on the style at 5% with a wonderful blend of Hallertauer and Tettnang hops and great Pils malt mashed to a very soft body. Another American lager done right? What's the brewing world coming to?
I would have to agree with Loren... All of the varietal pilsners Victory has done have been stellar. However the Tettnang version blew the proverbial doors off.
