Keep up the great work! I also noticed you have linked to several reason.com pieces in the past...yesterday KMW wrote a piece titled "Getting Virginia Off the Sauce." Definitely up your alley.

Best regards,
ChrisChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05767626171298484134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315262155858800734.post-73222423418111909562009-11-11T16:41:13.563-05:002009-11-11T16:41:13.563-05:00That's what I was doing for three years, no pr...That's what I was doing for three years, no problems, but in the past two weeks my comment spam has taken off. Don't know why.Lew Brysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04084380741402026573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315262155858800734.post-8136010096795601542009-11-11T16:20:12.545-05:002009-11-11T16:20:12.545-05:00I don't use the word verification on my Blogge...I don't use the word verification on my Blogger blog but rather I only post those comments that I approve. I get very little spam. Once they realized that it has to pass by me first before it goes live on the blog they stopped trying. I realize readers like to see their comment posted asap but I found letting that happen is an invitation to spam.Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04144288142060736290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315262155858800734.post-49361292245378456732009-11-11T13:24:16.277-05:002009-11-11T13:24:16.277-05:00Well, the ones that don't pass verification do...Well, the ones that don't pass verification don't come up for approval. That's how it saves time.

I got maybe 3 a month, then all of a sudden in the past two weeks it's ballooned to 10 or more a day. It just got annoying. If Google can do the filtering instead of me, bully for Google.

I don't have the Twitter problem: I don't follow anyone.Lew Brysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04084380741402026573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7315262155858800734.post-58161401392484138122009-11-11T13:13:15.475-05:002009-11-11T13:13:15.475-05:00Question: since you have to approve all comments a...Question: since you have to approve all comments anyway, how does this verification thing save any real time?

I've been getting "comment spam" for ages now, not in overwhelming numbers, but steadily. They mostly seem to come in on messages which were posted a week or so earlier, not on new ones, and they do slip past the Akismet spam filter.

Since nobody can post on my site unless they have in the past, I catch and delete them easily.

Of late, Twitter has been an issue as I get a couple of direct messages (to my email rather than online) a day from people's addresses I know (our pal Pawlak being one such who was thus hacked) urging me to try this or that link.Uncle Jackhttp://www.jackcurtin.comnoreply@blogger.com
