Hey, thanks to Jay Brooks, I now know that I share today as a birthday with Mary of Burgundy, the woman honored on the Duchesse de Bourgogne beer label. Cheers, baby!
Happy birthday, and nice beer connection. Need to work one out for mine too...its coming up in a fortnight! I'll be jetting off to Rome to get stuck into the beers in the Trastevere.
Happy Birthday, Lew! I'd forget that stunned idea by celebrating by getting shackled to an employer, though. The work requirements don't look very good either - who wants to be lazy, fat or a slob? Funny how its the anonymous who seem to find those traits appealing.
My own birthday sharer is Stan Laurel, who was friends, it is said, with Owney Madden, who, as well as running the Cotton Club, owned a brewery in New York - ah, how it all comes back to beer ...
Ah, the Dutchess. Its my wife's favorite beer. We met Karl Verhaeghe and his wife at last years ASN Belgium beer tasting. My wife was so excited you would have thought she was meeting a rock star! Karl and his wife couldn't have been more gracious. Great people who brew a great beer!

Apparently, I share a birthday with Penderyn. Wish I had some deep fried sausage...
Actually, bill, Penderyn's birthday is in November. It's my birthday today, so happy birthday to us!

Nice Robert Browning reference in the blog head, Lew ...

Oddly enough, I'd take your job over mine any day...
Happy Birthday, Lew! Kick back, crack a Duchesse, and enjoy.
Thanks, Martyn. I try to be literary, but it's mostly a sham...although, like Browning's narrator, I'm certainly in the market for my next Duchesse.
Speaking of literary, though, I finally found a copy of your book at a small bookstore in upstate NY, and am enjoying it.
e.s.,
A lot of folks feel that way! I'll be kicking back soon, and I'll raise a glass your way. Cheers!
Um...if you knew her nickname you wouldn't be so proud of this.
Anyway...Happy belated to a fellow suds loving Aquarius!
