Yards (is) Brewing
Don "Joe Sixpack" Russell is reporting today that Yards Brewing has officially resumed brewing. It's a momentous step, a welcome one, and I cannot wait to see what the new/old ESA Don talks about tastes like. I'd love to see Philly awash in cask ESA, myself, and if they can get folks excited about the original Brawler, a low ABV mild, well, I'll just be dizzy. Congratulations, guys!

Sweet jeebus, I haven't heard the name Yard's Brawler in over 6 years, will it be making a comeback?
Wouldn't that be great? Wouldn't it be even better if people actually drank it this time?
Indeed, Sir. I am anxious to taste Yards again, and to try brawler for the first time.
And put the oysters back in "Love Stout"- it was one of the very few true "oyster stouts" brewed. I, uh, "loved" it.
Hey, Lew, maybe you know the real story- I'd read (someplace?) that they were dropped from the recipe for "vegan" reasons.
Dunno, Jess; I'd suspect that they were dropped for the same reason a lot of things happened at the old Yards -- disagreements.
The previous deleted comment made an answer to jess's question -- oysters were removed for vegan and Jewish/kosher objections, and no one could tell a difference.
Why'd I delete it? Because it was full of the sniping that has, unfortunately, characterized the Yards/Philadelphia Brewing split. Thanks to the anonymity of the Internet (and the bravery that engenders), no one knows who is leaving these comments. Happily, the owners of both establishments have been too classy to utter such crank in public. I realized that answer or no, I didn't need to offer a public forum for bad-mouthing. So don't bother sending more.
Well, Jeez, it would seem that just about EVERY OTHER BEER is already vegan, and that we omnivores deserve a meated beer once in a while. Talk about caving to the fringe! Kosher? Have a Schmaltz!
Can't the "pig-meat geniuses" at Iron Hill give us some pork-based concoction? You know, a la bacon-flavored vodka???
You mean like a special edition of "Pig Meat Porter" instead of their Pig Iron Porter?
