Brewer's Art Tops Esquire's "Best Bar" List
Congratulations go out to the gang at The Brewer's Art in Baltimore, currently sitting on top of the world as a result of being at the top of Esquire's Best Bars in America list. I have had some great times at Brewer's Art, both upstairs and down, and all I can say is: well-deserved, and if you haven't ever been, get there!

Nice! It's high on my list, too, since the only time I was there was during someone's wedding, and no one would let me pay for a beer! A belated public "hats off" to the generous couple.
I see the Grey Lodge made the list, too. Good work, Scoats!
Dee's has jumped the shark, every since they stopped selling augustiner dark and other PBC drafts claiming they didnt clean the kegs properly or some such nonsense. I think they also believe bock is made from scraping the vats.
If you have a Pittsburgh list, Frank's and Gene's in oakland better be on it as should the Mission Street Bar and Grille.

Different Augustiner. This is a Yuengling knock-off made by Iron City, not Augustinerbräu. Which is still imported, I believe, but on a very small scale, unfortunately.

You'll hear from us as soon as you focus on some rye, I'll bet. Maybe even a real Pennsylvania (or better yet Monongahela) rye, at some future juncture. I had a (ri)1 the other day. Not bad for the present day, but pricey, I'll tell you.
Just a comment about Brewer's Art. I lived in Bmore for a while a few years back and this was one of my favorite places for beer and food. In fact their house ale and ressurection were two of the first beers that started my conversion, so I'll always have a soft spot for that place. Well deserved!
One of my favorites beers they've ever made was called Lord Cicada Ale, a hoppy red, I guess you could call it, during the "summer of the cicadas." Great beer, but unfortunately they're only going to make it once every 17 years with the cicadas. Hope to see it again in 2021....
