Pennsylvania beer, Pennsylvania cheese

Another event to put on that ridiculously full October calendar -- Appalachian Brewing in Harrisburg is hosting a beer, chocolate, and cheese event to benefit the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture on October 12. The speaker is Mary Izett (she's on the blogroll over there: My Life on Craft), who's been doing these tastings in New York over the past year. Learn about Pennsylvania artisan cheese; we'll assume you already know about our artisan beers.

There are two sessions: 1-3 and 4-6. Admission is $40, for which you get five pairings of beer, cheese, and chocolate, and a full glass of ABC beer, and you keep the glass...and you also sustain Sustainable Agriculture. This is a good opportunity to find out just how good local cheese is getting, have some fun, and help support non-factory farming.

Mary is fantastic at what she does and this is a must for anyone in the burg on that Sunday. Bring someone who isn't too sure they even like beer (e.g. a date) and this will have them ordering craft brews in no time, it will establish a new appreciation.

Man this should be a blast. I have met(Brooklyn) Mary before, she is the undisputed champion of the NYC craft beer scene. Definitely knows her stuff. Plus she turned me on to Prime Rib Hash at Keen's I would highly recommend this event.
