Steve Beaumont makes a very good point in a comment to an earlier post: the Phillies are great, as is the the food and beer in Citizens Bank Park...but our airport still sucks!
Who's going to do something about that? I don't mean the damned terminals or parking or baggage handling (which has gotten a LOT better in the past year, thank you!). I mean, why is it that PHL has nothing to compare to PDX in terms of BEER? What the hell kind of greeting to America's Best Beer-Drinking City™ is that?
Someone in the Philly Beer Bar Mafia (you KNOW who you are) has to step up to the plate and make this happen. We need a real beer spot at the airport, it's got to have a top-notch draft system, and all local beers. I can't do it, because I'm poor and stupid. Feather in the cap, guys, feather in the cap (and a great way to steer incoming biz your way...).

I flew into Manchester, NH a few years back and they had Smuttynose IPA and some other local beers on tap. PHL needs to showcase some of their local beers(Victory, Slyfox, Yards, etc.)
I dont remember there being THAT many great beers at PDX airport. And logistically, the few taverns in the joint are not convenient to the departure gates. Not a very well designed airport at all. F-ing Canadians--always bitchin'....
Hell, Laurelwood's got two outlets in PDX, and there's a 34-tap bar with tons of local stuff. We got nothing like that at PHL...and we should.
Huh, I was just at PHL a week ago and there is a bar in there with, I'm going to say 20 taps, of which half appeared to be local.
Okay here is a picture I took last week. I think it is in concourse B.
PHL Beer Taps
I see Victory (think 1 was Hop Devil), Sly Fox (Royal Weisse), Yards. Something tells me I spotted Stoudts and Troegs too but I am not sure.
Of course, I landed in SLC and they had multiple local brewpubs (Squatters, Wasatch) *in* the terminal, which was very awesome.
That's not bad. Could be better, but that's not bad. Still like to see something really focused on local beers...and craft/specialty beers in general.
Wiggins isn't Made yet... and I'm not even sure Adam can get a sit-down these days.
OK, I'm on it. I'll start the inquiries. Perhaps we can grab a small space at PHL. That is if the "pay to play" crap is really over at the airport. I think Nutter has cleaned that up. Local beer & Monk's mussels & burgers. The current beer bar @ PHL offers a 23oz glass as the SMALL size. That's just stupid. I would like to have a 10-12 oz option & maybe a pint, too. We could easily fill 25-30 taps with excellent local beer. Waddya think?
Tom Peters, ladies and gentlemen. No, really, he confirmed by e-mail. And I think it's brilliant!
Late to the party, as always, but I flew through Atlanta with a long layover, and had the opportunity to enjoy a few Sweetwater brews. Unfortunately, a similar option doesn't seem available in Philly airport.
