I just learned that Olive, the "Old Brown Dog" of Smuttynose Brewing's brown ale fame, died last week at the age of 16. My sympathies to those at the brewery.
I am so saddened by this news. I teach a beer class at Wellesley College and the Cambridge Center of Adult Education and I show a few great slides of Olive that I got from their website (I feature Smuttynose IPA in the class). My sympathies also go out to the brewery and Olive's parents - she was such a beautiful dog. The shot on the label is stunning.

Wow, if Olive was 16 when she died, how old was the dogs that sired and birthed her? 16 years is awfully old for a dog. It is probably best she died. That is a very long life for a dog.
